(Turin – Porta Nuova train station)
We are back in Turin this week with a visit to the Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo where we met with the curator of the Fondazione Irene Calderoni:
The Italian contemporary art foundation Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo was officially set up in Turin in 1995 by contemporary art collector Patrizia Sandretto Re Rebaudengo. The Fondazione’s main aim is to encourage a greater understanding of contemporary art and of today’s leading trends at an international level.
We visited the current exhibition Un’Espressione Geografica (Curated by Francesco Bonami)
Visit to Castello di Rivoli, near Turin. The Castello’s permanent collection was established in 1984, the year the museum opened, and it is continually added to through new acquisitions, donations, and long-term loans. The collection documents crucial moments in the development of contemporary art in Italy and abroad from the 1950s to the present day.
We were given tours of the Educational Department by Brunella Manzardo as well as a viewing of the permanent collection with Alessia Giorda and later a discussion with assistant curator at the Castello di Rivoli Marianna Cecellio…
The following photographs of the permanent collection were made with the kind permission of Castello di Rivoli communications office:
